Czech leader signs Lisbon Treaty

Well finally, that didn't take him too long...
After countless months of stalling and using up every possible options of rejecting the Lisbon Treaty, the eurosceptic Czech president, Vaclav Klaus, signed the valuable document, hence enabling the EU to function at 27. It will also give "Brussels" a legal personality, a High Representative for Foreign Affairs and a President of the European Council (the equivalent of a European president).
Klaus's last hope of rejecting the Lisbon Treaty was crushed by the Czech constitutional court's ruling that the document was in line with the country's constitution.
"I signed the Lisbon Treaty today at 1500 [1400 GMT]," Mr. Klaus told journalists.
