first analysis of news

Six U.N. foreign staff killed in attack in Kabul
very sad news indeed, but unfortunately not surprising. First of all, I would like to state clearly that I consider any attack against UN personnel (or any international organization) as unacceptable and criminal.
But as I said, anyone with a minimum of knowledge as to the (complex) history of Afghanistan can understand the reasons behind this attack. It is yet another reminder of how low the Reagan administration was ready to sink and how immoral the actions of the CIA were during the Cold War when the "free world" fought against the "evil empire"...
Thus were created the Mujahedeen, and subsequently (with training and supervision from the US) Al Qaeda, the major blowback of the CIA (special activities division), the breeding ground for the rise to power of the Taliban and the main cause of turmoil in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran today.
The presence of foreign troops is probably the main reason for the ever-growing number of "fanatic terrorist" (once called freedom-fighters). But let us not forget that the president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, is also an old operative of the CIA who might be turning against his buddies.
All in all, the situation in Afghanistan is not getting better, no matter how many soldiers NATO is ready to send, war will not bring peace to this region (or anywhere else for that matter) and fundamental ideology cannot be bombed out of a cave.
Once again, greed and religious hatred have prevailed over peace and freedom
